The service
Little Lights Digital designs, builds, hosts, maintains, and improves custom apps and software.
You start by submitting an application. If I accept the project, I will send you an approval email explaining what I understand you want built and what the first working version will include.
That written scope is what your initial payment covers.
Billing
Your first payment is $100, which covers the initial build and your first four weeks of service.
After that, the standard rate is $25 per week for hosting, maintenance, support, and continued development, unless we agree to something different in writing before the project begins.
Billing continues weekly until you cancel.
You can cancel at any time. Future billing stops at the end of the period you have already paid for.
The 7-day guarantee
The first working version described in your approval email will be ready for you to review within 7 days of your initial payment.
For purposes of this guarantee, a working first version means a functioning version of the app that you can open, use, and test through Expo, Expo Go, TestFlight, a private web build, or another appropriate preview method.
It is not simply a mockup or collection of screenshots.
The first version includes the core functionality specifically agreed upon before payment. Larger ideas may continue to be expanded through future development requests.
If the agreed first working version is not available for you to review within 7 days, you can request a full refund of everything you have paid.
If progress is prevented because I am waiting for information, content, account access, credentials, approvals, or other materials required from you, the guarantee is paused until those items are provided.
App Store availability
The 7-day guarantee does not mean your app must be publicly available in Apple's App Store within seven days.
App Store submission, review, approval, and processing are controlled by Apple and may take additional time.
The guarantee applies to delivering the working version of the app that we agreed upon, not to the timing or outcome of a third-party approval process.
Ongoing improvements
Once the first version is delivered, the app can continue growing.
You can request new features, changes, refinements, integrations, design updates, and other improvements by email.
I work on one active development request at a time, with most focused requests completed within 7 days of being started.
A larger feature may need to be divided into multiple requests. If something falls outside the normal service or requires a separate cost, I will tell you before any work begins.
Bug fixes relating to work built by Little Lights Digital are handled at no additional charge and do not count as development requests.
Hosting and cancellation
While your subscription is active, Little Lights Digital hosts, maintains, and operates the app as part of the service.
If you cancel, the hosted version will remain available through the end of the period you have already paid for and may then be taken offline.
You are not required to continue paying simply because you previously had an app built.
Your data and content
Your data is always yours.
You retain ownership of your business data, customer data, content, branding, images, documents, and other materials you provide for the project.
You may request an export of your project data at any time, including after cancellation.
You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use any content, trademarks, images, data, or other materials you provide for inclusion in your app.
Source code
The source code remains with Little Lights Digital during the first 12 months of service.
That structure is what makes it possible to offer custom development with a very low upfront cost. Instead of purchasing an entire custom software project upfront, you are paying for an ongoing managed service that includes the build, hosting, maintenance, support, and continued development.
After 12 months
Once you have paid for 12 months of service, you may request a complete copy of the project source code at no additional charge.
At that point, you are free to host it yourself, modify it, continue using Little Lights Digital, or give it to another developer.
You are not required to cancel in order to receive the code.
Taking the code before 12 months
If you want to take the source code before completing 12 months of service, you may do so by paying the remaining balance of your first year.
At the standard rate, the first year represents 52 weeks at $25 per week, or $1,300 total. Everything you have already paid toward the service counts toward that amount.
For example, if you have already paid $500, the early code-transfer amount would be the remaining $800.
There is no additional buyout fee, cancellation penalty, or markup.
Once that balance is paid, you receive the same code-transfer rights you would have received after completing the full 12 months normally.
What you receive with a code transfer
When you become eligible for a code transfer, I will provide:
- A complete copy of the project source code
- An export of the related project data reasonably available to me
- Project-specific assets created for the application
- Reasonable information needed to understand the project's current setup
You may then continue running, modifying, hosting, or developing the project yourself or with another developer.
Third-party software, open-source libraries, APIs, frameworks, fonts, platforms, and other outside technology remain subject to their own licenses and terms.
Little Lights Digital may also retain ownership of general-purpose tools, reusable components, development methods, templates, or code that existed before your project or is not unique to your project.
Your transferred project will still include everything reasonably necessary to operate and continue developing the app.
If you cancel before taking the code
You may cancel at any time without paying the remainder of the first year.
If you cancel before becoming eligible for a free code transfer and choose not to pay the remaining first-year balance, your future weekly billing simply stops and the hosted app is taken offline at the end of your paid period.
Your data and content remain yours and can still be exported.
You are only required to complete the first-year balance if you want to take possession of the source code before the 12-month point.
If you sell your business
If you sell or transfer your business, the app may transfer with it.
The new owner can take over the existing subscription and continue the service under the same terms, subject to any necessary account or billing changes.
If Little Lights Digital shuts down
If Little Lights Digital permanently stops providing the service and can no longer continue hosting or maintaining your app, you will receive the project source code and your available project data at no additional charge, regardless of how long you have been subscribed.
You will not be required to pay the remaining first-year balance in that situation.
Third-party services
Your app may rely on outside services such as Apple, Expo, Supabase, Stripe, hosting providers, AI services, APIs, payment processors, mapping services, domains, or other platforms.
If your particular project requires a separate paid account, license, API charge, developer account, or third-party expense that is not included in the normal weekly service, I will tell you before requiring it.
Little Lights Digital cannot guarantee the availability, pricing, policies, approval decisions, or continued operation of third-party services.
Refunds
If I fail to deliver the agreed first working version within the 7-day guarantee described above, you may request a full refund of everything you have paid.
If that refund is issued, the project ends and neither side has any further obligation to continue it.
After the guaranteed first working version has been delivered, payments for periods of hosting, maintenance, support, and development that have already begun are generally not refundable.
Acceptable use
Little Lights Digital will not knowingly build or host software intended for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, abusive, exploitative, or harmful activity.
I may decline an application or future development request if I am not willing or legally able to build or support it.
No guarantee of business results
I guarantee the development commitments specifically described in these terms.
I cannot guarantee that an app will produce a particular number of users, downloads, customers, leads, sales, revenue, profit, or other business result.
